While walking I heard a sparrow singing by And thought to write a lovely little rhyme. The birdsong heralds life in twilight glow, As flames of fire fall across the snow. The dancing lilac hues on winter white Turned to violet blues that streaked the night. Each thread unraveled from Joseph's coat of color, Daily varnished no two evenings like the other. And then I thought what strong hand divine Could lift such a heavy canvas to the sky? To light the torch that world around revolves, Each morning to warm the hearts of all. The very rocks and stones are sure to cry, As the water from the brook rushes by. And so too with I—walking this winter morn. Look! Book of nature! Feast, and praise the Lord!
Poems & Paraboles publishes work that illuminates, awakens, or opens a small window toward wonder. Some pieces are quiet. Some are bold. Some carry a moral thread, while others wander into the mysterious and ethereal.
Poets and storytellers are invited to submit their work. Selected pieces will be posted and featured throughout the year. See Submission Guidelines!

Aaron, the tonality and cadence of your poem reminds me of William Wordsworth's Daffodils. Beautifully done. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
