Poems & Paraboles is a collaborative literary publication devoted to poetry, storytelling, and fables that transfigure the ordinary.
The title draws on the old french parabole from the latin parabola and the greek parabolē…to cast beside. A parabole is a symbolic story that uses everyday images, scenes, and experiences to reveal deeper meaning.
This tradition traces back in part to the parables of Jesus. Stories rich with metaphors that illuminate everyday life beside spiritual truths. Parables are invitations, and poems work in a similar way, inviting readers to perceive the sacred and eternal within the commonplace.
Poems & Paraboles embraces this way of seeing the world, employing the ordinary and familiar as vessels for revelation.
We also celebrate the imaginative lineage of the fable. Stories in which animals or the elements of nature speak and act as mirrors to our own humanity. Fables offer moral lessons through story, characters, and symbolism. Unfolding ancient wisdom that teach gently through delight, metaphor, and the voices of nature.
Poems & Paraboles publishes work that illuminates, awakens, or opens a small window toward wonder. Some pieces are quiet. Some are bold. Some carry a moral thread, while others wander into the mysterious and ethereal.
Poets and storytellers are invited to submit their work. Selected pieces will be posted and featured throughout the year. Read submission guidelines!
Poems & Paraboles envisions publishing annual anthologies, in print as full-length poetry collections. Poems that are posted and featured throughout the year will be considered for the anthology.
