I felt a sense of benediction steal over me as I read. My mom always told me, "You are a human being, not a human doing. Just be." Your poem gave me that same sense of taking a breath and finding my worth without needing to strive and add anything to it. Thank you, Drew.

You had me with the word “clank” and you kept me with the quiet progression that follows. 🩵🩵🩵

Thank you! That word is a nod to Walt Whitman.

This is a beautiful, grounding, and profound poem, Drew. The contrast between “the clank of the world” and the quiet of snow-covered trees really stayed with me. I loved the reminder that we are not just a means to an end, but something sacred in ourselves. The repetition of “breathe true air” felt like a quiet blessing. Thank you for offering this moment of stillness and truth.
